Get to know

Dr. Innocent Nwanya, DDS

Dr. Innocent Nwanya grew up in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, where he first set his sights on medicine. It did not take long before he realized he wanted something different: a career with flexibility, creativity, and the ability to see the direct impact of his work on real people. Dentistry offered all of that. He transferred his studies, found his calling, and never looked back.

He earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maiduguri with distinctions. During dental school, the surrounding community was affected by regional conflict that displaced thousands of families from their homes. Dr. Nwanya and his classmates stepped in, providing essential dental care to affected communities during one of the most formative chapters of his training. After graduation, he continued that commitment during his postgraduate internship, volunteering with the Nigerian Red Cross to offer aid to internally displaced people in Abuja. Those experiences deepened his understanding of what dentistry can mean to a person, and they shaped the kind of doctor he set out to become.

After several years of clinical practice in Nigeria, Dr. Nwanya made the move to the United States and enrolled at New York University College of Dentistry, where he earned his DDS and obtained his U.S. license in 2022. With a decade of experience across two countries and two degrees, he brings a depth of perspective that informs everything from how he greets a new patient to how he approaches a complex full-arch implant case.

His clinical focus is implant dentistry and comprehensive restorative care. He is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and he has participated in advanced training at the Kois Center, one of the most respected continuing education programs in dentistry. He places and restores dental implants, handles single-tooth and full-arch cases, and takes a thorough, evidence-based approach to every treatment plan he develops.

What drives Dr. Nwanya is not just the clinical work but the real-time change it creates. Watching a patient rediscover their confidence after a smile transformation or regain the ability to eat comfortably after years of tooth loss is what keeps him grounded and focused. He started Lagos Dental Centre to practice dentistry on his own terms: with carefully chosen materials, a trusted team, and no shortcuts.

Outside the office, Dr. Nwanya is a family man who loves to travel, stays current on the latest tech, plays soccer, catches movies at the cinema, and admits to a healthy appreciation for video games. He is as approachable in person as he is precise in the operatory, and patients tend to notice both.

What To Bring

To help us get started on the right foot, please bring the following to your first appointment:

A valid photo ID

Your dental insurance card, if applicable

A list of any current medications or supplements

Any relevant dental records or X-rays from a previous provider, if available

A list of any dental concerns or questions you would like to discuss

Comfort and technology working together for a better visit

Lagos Dental Centre was designed from the ground up to feel different from the moment you walk in. The amenities and technology inside the practice are not add-ons; they are central to how Dr. Nwanya delivers care that is both clinically precise and genuinely comfortable. Every detail, from the atmosphere to the equipment, was chosen with your experience in mind.

An environment designed to put you at ease

The space at Lagos Dental Centre was built to feel warm, calm, and distinctly unlike a traditional dental office. Deep slate navy, honey oak warmth, and brushed brass accents create an atmosphere that feels more like a destination than a waiting room. Every element of the design was chosen intentionally so that you feel settled before your appointment even begins.

Zen Suite

A quieter treatment space for patients who find dental visits harder than most. Warm materials, softer lighting, unhurried pacing — small choices, made on purpose, to take the edge off before care even begins. Inside, you'll find weighted blankets, noise-cancelling headphones with your choice of music or a favorite show, warm neck wraps, and aromatherapy that stays a background note rather than a signature. Nitrous oxide is available when you need it, but it isn't the first thing we reach for — often, the room itself is enough.

Ask about the Zen Suite when you book. No upcharge, no special protocol. It's simply how we do dentistry.

Precision technology that supports better outcomes

Dr. Nwanya believes that the right technology leads to better diagnosis, more accurate treatment, and a smoother experience for patients. The tools at Lagos Dental Centre are selected because they genuinely improve the quality of care, not simply because they look impressive. What is in this office is here for a reason.

CBCT imaging

Cone beam computed tomography, or CBCT, gives us a three-dimensional view of your teeth, jaw, bone structure, and surrounding anatomy that a standard X-ray simply cannot provide. This level of detail Is a valuable in aiding with TMJ disorders, implant planning, complex extraction, and root canal treatments. For patients, that means a more predictable process and a higher standard of care from the very start.
